“Simplicity carried to an extreme, becomes elegance.” - LanScape Philosophy

Thank you for purchasing LanScape application software. This edition of LanScape’s Service Manager suite is designed for the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems.

The LanScape Service Manager suite allows you to execute just about any Windows application (process) as a Windows NT 4.x service or as a Windows 2000, XP or 2003 Windows service.

By running application software (for example, LanScape VOIP server software) as a service, you add an extra layer of functionality not otherwise possible compared to executing your applications as a standard process or as a native Windows service.

If you are a software developer:
Developing a native Windows service is not difficult when you use the C/C++ language. However, developing a service in other languages is more difficult or impossible. In addition, debugging a service is most times extremely slow as compared to developing and debugging a standard Windows console application or Windows GUI application. The easiest way to develop an application that must run as a service is to either develop your application as a standard Windows console application or as a windowless GUI application. Your application logic can be developed, tested and debugged as a normal Windows program. Then when you need to deploy your application as a service, simply install the LanScape Service Manager on the target host machine and run your application as a native Windows service. Its that easy.

When your applications run as a service, your programs will start as soon as your server host machine starts. No user is required to log into the host machine. When the server host shuts down, your server applications will be closed gracefully and terminate as normal.

In addition to the above described functionality, an extra layer of process monitoring, fault tolerance and event logging is also possible. All of these extended capabilities are supported by the LanScape Service Manager suite. We are extremely pleased to have an opportunity to offer you this feature rich, application software technology to you.
