Lanscape posted (regarding setting a line to incoming only): That's kind of a cool feature. I can see how that might be handy in an effort to simplify application logic. I have logged an engineering change notice so that this idea might be considered for a future release.

I wondered if you have a system for us to track such requests, I was just interested in what the engineer thought and what sort of timescale we might see such a feature (Don't worry i'm not looking for any commitments!).

It's just i'd rather wait a few months if it is going in than go to all the bother of hardening my app and dealing with all the other logic etc. such a feature really would simplify things and I'd have thought it was a simply a case of providing a function like:

SetLineMode(lmIncomingOnly | lmOutgoingOnly | lmBiDi).

heheh.

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim,

At the moment we do not have a way for customers to track new feature requests except via this forum. The VOIP Media Engine may have a maintenance release sometime this year but the actual date has not been determined.

Your idea of a new SetLimeMode() API is spot on. We cannot however promise when a new feature or request will be implemented and released. Sorry. :(

At the moment we publish what changes are made from version to version. That way customers can see what has been added, deprecated, enhanced, fixed, etc.

If you absolutely require this new capability, we can however work with you. We are able to make custom changes to the VOIP Media Engine on a contract basis. In this case your company will have to cover our engineering development costs for the modifications. For the change you requested, we would have to charge your firm a fixed bid amount (TBD). For other feature requests, we might have to charge an hourly rate to perform the development. Each individual custom software request gets evaluated and quoted as circumstances require.

If you would like to investigate your options, please post back to this forum. Also, please be aware that requesting custom software changes can get pricey.

Best regards,

I think we'll leave it 4 now... but it would be a nice feature to see before we invest in the multi-line version later in the year!

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim,

We wanted to update this post with new information.

We have added the ability for applications to specify if a phone line will be used for "out bound calling only".

This new capability has been added to version 5.11 of the VOIP Media Engine. The 5.11 version will be available simetime in February 2006. We will be posting a change log on the web so customers can see what new features have been added and what has been fixed.

Of special interest to you is the addition of aLaw codec capability and other low bitrate codes such as G729/G729A and iLBC (20 and 30Ms frame size).

Best regards,
