Hi Support:
I had to complain about your service. As u know, I have purchased VoIP media engine v6.0.0.3. After completing install of product image, I rebuilt and run SingleLine Phone example with LanScapeVME.c which has normal license data upon official LMEVoip.dll/lib. But the following prompt occure:
"A fatal error was detected while booting this example application.\n"
"Before you build and test these application examples, make sure\n"
"you copy your \"Media Engine Microcode/Personality Data\" file into\n"
"the \\Software Examples\\Microcode folder. The media engine microcode file\n"
"you received is named LanScapeVME.C. You should have received this file on\n"
"a 3.5\" floppy disk image that came along with your installation CDROM.",
"Example Application Error",
It is obviously that it shows StartSipTelephony API call failure encountered before when I took trial of media engine. I know it is caused by wrong license data.
So I demand u must resolve this issue for me ASAP, otherwise pls return my money.

Hi George,
It’s ok to complain. Just don’t get too excited because it’s probably something simple.
We will verify your product image immediately. Hang on...

Hi George,
Your product image is OK. I just installed tested your product image and called your test IVR server. I then navigated around some of the prompts and then terminated the call.
In the future, please keep your posts to this forum as constructive as possible. Do not threaten or make demands. If you are frustrated about something, take a deep breath before you post. We would not intentionally send you product that does not work.
Here is the test I performed:
1)
I took your product image and installed it on a machine.
2)
I then took your LanScapeVME.c license file and placed it into the default install directory location:
C:\Program Files\LanScape\VOIP Media Engine\Release 6\Software Examples\Native Code\Microcode
3)
I then rebuilt the “SingleLine Phone” sample app using VS2008 (SingleLine Phone VS2008.sln).
4)
I then ran the sample app and configured it to register to your IVR server.
5)
I then made a test call to extension 1008 and played around with the DTMF prompts. I used DTMF configuration Both/Simultaneous.
6)
I then terminated the call and exited the sample single line phone app.
That’s it – everything worked as expected.
Possible Solution to your problem:
Remove all other possible LMEVoip.dll versions that exist on your system. Your sample app must be accessing a media engine DLL that is not v6.0.0.3. Check your system PATH environment variable too to make sure the path points to your v6.0.0.3 media engine DLL. You might run into this problem if you did not uninstall a previous media engine version.
Here is a log of the test call:

Hi Support:
First of all, I always don't make a threat and do hope to use your product to develop our own softphone, but from trial point on there are many barriers on product, even though this, I finally purchased your product. So if u were me, how to handle this case? If u mind what I say, I can say sorry to u.
Ok, back to this issue, until I get licensed product image I have used v6.0.0.3 trial edition on my PC. I must tell u that SingleLine phone.exe is at same directory with official LMEVoip.dll, then why to result in this issue?
Thanks

Hi George,
Thanks for your follow-up post and your email. I am not offended by your post – not one bit. Everything is OK. I understand and agree with the contents of your email explanation exactly. My one and only goal is to get you moving forward…
Hmm… something strange is going on… I have to think….
Question 1:
Did you install the normal product over the trial product?
OR
Did you uninstall the trial product and then install the normal product?
Here is what I would do:
1)
Use a completely different machine (one that has never had the media engine installed) and install your purchased product. Everything should work.
OR
1)
Save your current media engine install directory (make a copy somewhere) and any changes to sample source code you may have performed.
2)
Completely uninstall the media engine.
3)
Make sure the media engine install directory has been deleted. If it has not been deleted, manually delete it.
4)
Install your purchased v6.0.0.3 media engine product image.
5)
Build and test the single line soft phone. Everything should function as normal.
By the way, what is the time difference between us?
I am GMT-6.

George,
One other item to try before uninstalling/installing:
Make sure you call the InitializeMediaEngine() API procedure with your “product redistribution code”. See the “pData” parameter for the InitializeMediaEngine() API procedure in the software developer’s reference.
You can find additional info using the following document that is installed with your product image:
C:\Program Files\LanScape\VOIP Media Engine\Release 6\Redist\Redistributing LanScape VOIP Media Engine.pdf

Hi Randal:
Thanks for your kind and prompt help on my issue. I will do as what u advise to me. Hope to get right result u expect.
Here my current time is 1:26am now. It should be 14 hours difference from your time.
Maybe everytime voip app runs, lmevoip.dll reads hidden registry entry for verification. It is only my guess.

Randal:
Another trivial thing is that when media engine install process is about to end, setup program pops up with prompt message box: "Could not creat uninstall shortcut:
XXXXXXXXXXUninstall Voip Media Engine?lnk".
When I click OK button, setup ends. But I can not find media engine program group at list when I click "Add/Remove Programs" applet at Windows control panel.
I don't know whether it is wrong symptom.

George,
1)
For your XP SP2, What language? English or Chinese/Simplified Chinese?
2)
It is possible the install error you mention is causing your runtime license problem. In this case, just call the InitializeMediaEngine() API proc with your redistribution code from your license file (CustomerLog.html) and then run your VOIP app. Using your redistribution code will allow you to run your media engine app on any machine and without the development product image having to be installed. Nothing is trivial.
I smell success……

Hi Randal:
Very nice to hear good news from u. My XP SP2 is clean and fresh english edition just prepared for testing licensed official media engine. But I still hope to fix "unable to creat uninstall shortcut" error. Maybe it is caused by setup program inconsistence with Windows Install.
Anyway it is time to move forward now.
Thanks

Hi George,
We think the installer issue you experienced is due to the ® symbol being used in the short cut folder name for the uninstall link. The problem appears to be a bug in the installer toolset we use. It seems the install problem you reported can sometimes occur on “some” Windows machines but not others. Who knows why…
We have updated our installers to remove the use of the ® symbol. We will have to see over time if the issue has been resolved for sure. There are no other reports of this issue.
Question:
Are you now installed OK and running your native single line softphone sample application?
