Hi Support:
With official v6.0.0.3 media engine, I have rebuild and run all native examples with VC++ 6.0 on my XP PC successfully, but when I copy these binaries together with engine LMEVoip.dll to another XP PC, strange behavior appears: all binaries can not start engine successfuly and windows complains with error prompt.

I don't know what happened at that point. Maybe media engine crashes when it is started. How to explain great behavior difference on two XP OS. So pls help me!

If u don't mind, pls access to that PC with Teamviewer to perform simple troubleshooting. Go to our website to download Teamviewer.

Teamviewer id on that problem PC is: XXXXX-edited-for-security-purposes-XXXXX
Password: XXXXX-edited-for-security-purposes-XXXXX

If media engine works not stable, then what to do ?

Thanks

I must supplement additional info for above issue. I have used correct license file and redistribution code.

Hi George,

We will take a look. If your VOIP apps do not run on other machines, then it’s probably a license issue.

I will repost shortly...

I have checked license, no problem. And i also use redistribution code for eliminating development limitation. IF due to license, it should prompt with dialog, but windows complains with crash -alike dialog.

Hi George,

What EXE app are you having trouble with?

I must be missing something. It looks like all the VOIP apps in "E:\Lanscape\VME6\Bin" are functioning and can execute.

DialerTest.exe
This app executes and then immediately terminates. Probably because it is using a hard coded IP address. If you change the IP address and rebuild, it will run.

Dual Line Ivr Server.exe
This app requires that you copy the IVR prompt wave files into the EXE’s directory. Copy the entire “IvrPrompts” directory to the EXE’s directory. It should then start OK.

Simple Console App.exe
This works.

SingleLine Phone.exe
This is OK.

Telephone Echo Server.exe
This is OK too.

Help me understand what is wrong.

George,

Can you remove the Chinese characters from the directory path and then let me test again?

I am not sure, but the media engine is probably confused and is generating an exception. This is only a guess.

Hi George,

Thanks for working with me during testing. As we discussed, the media engine has a bug when it executes on your Chinese version of Windows XP. We will have to test this scenario here and get a fix. We are sure it is a simple multi byte character string handling issue.

In the mean time, do not run media engine based applications from a directory path that contains characters from the (simplified) Chinese character set.

We have put this bug on our “to do” list.

Thanks George. Let’s move forward.

Hi Randal:
Wonderful to put bug on "to do" list. So I believe I can get official bug fix early at half of next week, isn't it?
Pls do me favor!

Hi George,

We have a test machine configured here with Windows XP SP3 running simplified Chinese language. We have recreated the same exception we saw on your test machine last week. We will try to resolve the issue this week if possible and then get you an updated product image. If it takes a bit longer for us to fix this issue, please be prepared for that too.

We will post back to this support forum thread when we have further information.

Thanks,

Randal

Any progress on bug fix? We are urgent to release our dialer for possible Chinese customers.

Thanks.

Hi George,

As a matter of fact, I’m working on this right now. My hope is that I can get you an image to test and verify before today is over. Let’s see what I can get done.

I will post again later…

Hi George,

We have placed in your support FTP account an “engineering release” of the media engine that will take care of the simplified Chinese bug.

Please test and verify this image. If it is OK, then we will get you an updated product image early next week.

Note:
We have changed over to secure FTP access to our support FTP servers. Please try to access the support FTP servers using the instructions on the following web page:

Secure access to customer support FTP accounts:
http://www.lanscapecorp.com/support/SecureFtpAccess/FtpAcces sInstructions.asp

Please use the FileZilla FTP client we supply if possible.

Thanks,

Randal

Hi George,

OK, we will update your product image as soon as we create the official product release. We are waiting for additional customer feedback regarding a few other improvements and changes.

By the way, I assume you had no FTP download errors – correct?

Thanks,

Randal
