Subject: VOIP Media Engine and Linux
We recently completed initial testing of executing native Windows VOIP Media Engine based applications on Linux operating systems (Ububtu 8.04.1 server) using Wine v1.1.3.
Preliminary tests showed that all VOIP Media Engine capabilities functioned as normal. As a matter of fact, VOIP Media Engine boot and termination times are dramatically reduced. The media engine version that we used for functional testing was v5.12.8.10. We tested media engines line densities up to 32 concurrent lines.
For current engineering release version information, please visit the following URL to see the current Engineering Release Notes:

We will continue to test the media using (Ububtu) and Wine v1.1.3 as we move forward and as time permits.
If you cannot wait until we have the native Linux port of the VOIP Media Engine, running your VOIP applications on Linux+Wine may give you the bridge you need to keep your development moving forward. Also don’t forget to take a look at Winelib.
Thanks,
Support
