I am very interested in your LanScape VOIP Media Engine.
Please can you advise of a few points:
a) Prototyping
We would like to write a few prototyping applications (a hello world kind of thing!).... before we attempt to integrate your api into our main app. is this a problem with your "Per application" licensing agreement (providing that we aren't releasing these programs they would just be to play in the lab)... I just wonder if there security in your software that would stop us from doing this (like do we have to register the exe file name or some kind of signiture with you guys to make it work?).
b) Upgrades
If we got a single line version at your oem prices to check it out and do the development... can we upgrade in a months time to a multi-line version. If so can we just pay the price difference for the extra lines?
c) Delphi
I was planning on developing a delphi component to wrap your api. Are you aware of anyone who has already done this? If not are you interested in doing a deal on the price for us if we were to supply you with the wrapper (so you could then provide / sell it to other customers!)?! Worth asking!
d) How fast can you ship this to us? Can it be delivered by email?
e) I presume the codecs are provided? Can you please inform me what codecs are included and whether any license restrictions apply to them.

Item 1: Prototyping
The licensing terms for the VOIP Media Engine allows you to create a single “Final” application per purchased license. For your development purposes, LanScape has no restriction on how many “proof of concept” apps you want to code up. However – remember that the VOIP Media Engine is restricted to a single running instance per machine per license – unless you purchase a special multi-instance license.
As an example, there are five reference example C++ applications that come with the product. Build them, experiment and modify them, or even base your code on our reference examples. The examples will all function when built but will not execute concurrently on the same machine (unless you purchase a multi-instance license as stated above). The only real limitation is that you do not distribute the raw examples with out substantial modifications and appropriate GUI changes.
Likewise, in your final product’s executable, the VOIP Media Engine will not allow you to instantiate more that one application using the same DLL based on your license file that gets shipped with your order. The license file is compiled into or linked with your application.
At this time, we sell licenses for the VOIP media engine that allow each app to instantiate the engine “N” number of times per host machine. If you were developing a suite of VOIP applications that will want to execute simultaneously on the same machine, we would prefer to license a multi-instance version of the Media Engine to you.
Item 2: Upgrades
You are exactly correct. LanScape’s upgrade policy is to allow customers to upgrade in their first year for the price difference. The difference amount is determined by the OEM price list as published on the web located at:

Item 3: Delphi wrapper.
We have other language support for the VOIP Media Engine in the works however not sure what the exact release date is. Most of our customers code C/C++. LanScape has determined though that there are a growing number of Delphi developers asking for this product and native language support. If you want to develop a Delphi wrapper for the API, we would encourage you and welcome your effort. We would make available short term to others via the web what you submit to us. If its good enough and you beat us to the punch, there is a chance we would include your work with the distribution where you may reap the benefits.
Item 4: Shipping
We license each distribution separately. Normal shipping is 7-10 days. To expedite this process, we must charge an additional US$125. If you need expedited processing, please contact us prior to placing your order via the online store.
Item 5: Codecs
The VOIP Media Engine handles all media related tasks. Signal routing, media mixing, coding/decoding, RTP transceiver operation, its all there. You need nothing more. I suggest you download the latest compiled HTML help file that we ship with the product to see what current data rates and formats are supported. No codec license restrictions apply.
