Hai,
Whether LanScape VOIP Media Engine will able to monitor RTP packets through SPAN port of a SWITCH, and able to process the RTP Packets into individual wave files.
Regards,
Manivannan.

Hi nmani77,
We are not exactly sure what you want to do based on your short description.
Please post again and elaborate more precisely on what you actually want to do. Please be specific in your post otherwise we simply end up guessing and will probably give you useless information.

Whether VOIP Media Engine will support G723.1, G729, G729A?
Whether VOIP Media Engine will support SIP, RTP, Skinny protocols?
As I mentioned in my first post, whether VOIP Media Engine will record phone calls by monitoring SPAN port of the SWITCH?

Hi nmani77,
Don’t take this the wrong way but it sounds like you need to make more of an effort and look at the Developer’s reference for the product.
A slightly older version of the Developer’s reference for the product can be located here:
http://www.lanscapecorp.com/DevResources/SoftwareDevRef/inde x.html
As of 11-15-07, the latest compiled html (*.chm) image can be found here:
http://www.lanscapecorp.com/DevResources/LanScape_Software_D evelopers_Reference.zip
Download it and take a look at all of the capabilities the media engine can do for you. If there I something in the developer’s reference you do not understand, then post those questions. The VOIP Media Engine product page is located here:
http://www.lanscapecorp.com/ProductPages/LanScapeVoipMediaEn gine.asp
Did you even read that? You don’t want to be “spoon fed” do you? ;)
Better yet, go to this page:
http://www.lanscapecorp.com/ASP%20Files/VoipTestDrive.asp
and request a product trial of the VOIP Media Engine. That way you can investigate and play with all the capabilities of the product.
Now to your other questions:
1) Does the VOIP Media Engine support G723.1, G729 or G729A?
G729 and G729A are fully supported. The other great low bitrate codec is iLBC. This is a quote from the main product page from above:
“Supports phone calls using the following rates and formats: uLaw, aLaw, G729/G729A, iLBC (20Ms and 30Ms frame sizes), 8kHz PCM, 11kHz PCM and 22kHz PCM.”
If you need any version of G723, we can add it to the product no problem. To do this, your company will have to enter into a development contract with us.
2) Does the VOIP Media Engine support SIP, RTP or Skinny protocols?
The VOIP Media Engine is SIP and RTP only. If you want or need other functionality, talk to us and we will see if we can add it to the product. We are always interested in working with customers to add new capabilities and features.
3) Can the VOIP Media Engine record phone calls by monitoring SPAN port of the SWITCH?
Once again, help us better understand what you want to do here. We think we know what you are getting at but we are not going to guess at what you want to do.
What exactly do you mean by a SPAN port?
What type of data comes from the SPAN port?
Give us more info and we will help you. Be specific so we can get you the answers you seek.
By the way, we are not trying to be hard on you in our response to your post – we’re just having a bit of fun with you at your expense. :)
Thanks,
Support

Hi,
Sorry to intrude this discussion. I think what this guy really wants is a VOIP Call Recorder. VOIP Call recorders are special packet sniffers which monitor all packets on the LAN and extract VOIP calls through packets (some job like Ethereal do).
SPAN port is a special port on LAN switches (such as Cisco LAN Switch) which all packets sent and received on all other ports on this switch is resent on this port. So the node which is connected to SPAN port can sniff all packets sent and received on all other ports. If any voip call is passed through other ports then node connected to SPAN port of the switch can simply record the call.
There are some other solutions for sniffing and recording the calls on the LAN. We have developed a new voip recorder software named HCLS3000 in our company which may solve this guys problem.
For more information you may contact me directly sending email to "abedi at tazarv.com".

Jalal Abedinejad
