Subject: VOIP Media Engine .NET sample applications.
This global forum announcement may or may not apply to you. We are completing .NET language support in the VOIP Media Engine product offering. This new capability will help all VOIP developers as they enter into the realm of developing cool new VOIP applications for Windows in addition to overcoming the issues associated with manage/unmanaged code that currently exist for customers.
The next release of the VOIP Media Engine is quickly approaching. We would like your help to decide:
1) What type of .NET VOIP samples you would like to see (Soft phone, IVR server, etc).
2) What .NET languages you want your sample applications to use.
We have our own ideas regarding these two questions but we thought “hey, why not ask everyone who is currently using the product”.
We would like to hear your thoughts and ideas. We will release the .NET version of the VOIP Media Engine with a limited number of .NET samples in a variety of .NET languages. We will do this in an effort to shorten the time to release. Over time, we will add additional .NET sample applications as they are required.
So, let your voice be heard and give us your opinions on what VOIP .NET samples you want and what .NET languages you prefer.
Thanks to all who read this and to all of you who are evaluating or have selected the VOIP Media Engine for your next Windows VOIP development project.
Best regards,
LanScape Software Development Team.

I vote for C# language versions of the singlelinephone and conference server sample apps. Great news that you are going to .NET!

Hi Justin,
We are almost there. Our plans are to make available the complete .NET assembly (wrapper) as soon as we can. We need to complete additional functionality and test with the core .NET languages (C++, vb, C#, J#). It should go smoothly. Hopefully we can make a download available sometime next week.

Hello!
I guess that C# would be the most usefull, and simple application that show how to use funcitons, events to make phone calls on many lines (so i guess softphone would be good wiht support to many lines).
We are looking forward to use your .NET api.

To all:
As usual, testing to make sure everything works via .NET is taking longer than we want. We will post to this thread as soon as we can make the product image available. Please be patient - its coming.

I mean how are you going to provide it? Would it be possible to use it in windows services? Cos most Activex doesnot work under windows services.

The .NET support will be in the form of a managed code DLL wrapper that will sit between your managed application code and the native VOIP Media Engine. The .NET code we are developing is a standard .NET assembly that you can reference in your managed application's projects. We have plans for an ActiveX version of the media engine to possibly be made available at a later time.
And yes you will be able to use the .NET media engine in a managed code windows service.
