LanScape Customers:

Problem:
We have been performing additional inter-op SIP testing using the latest SJPhone released v1.60.289a from SJ Labs. (http://www.sjlabs.com/)

This notice is to inform you that we have detected that this SIP soft phone does not properly preserver Via header information for INVITE provisional responses and possibly other INVITE responses.

The inter-op problem arises because the SJPhone manipulates Via headers (it combines Via headers) and does not preserve all Via header information in its responses. This is problematic if you deploy other SIP devices or soft phones that do not use default SIP port 5060.

It appears that if SJPhones and all other SIP devices in your domain are deployed using default SIP port 5060, then this issue may not affect you. However, if you deploy any SIP endpoint (including other SJPhones) using UDP SIP ports other than 5060, then session initiation related problems will occur.

We are adding enhanced processing logic to all LanScape Centrex Proxy servers to monitor this Via header condition and repair Via headers if required.

Fix:
Until we release the next version of Centrex Proxy server, you must deploy SJPhones using SIP port 5060. Note: all other SIP devices that must interoperate with deployed SJPhones must also use port 5060.
