Every time I start up the CentrexProxyTrial.exe program, I see the tray icon, an information window that reads "LanScape Centrex Proxy(R) / Initializing the LanScape Centrex Proxy (R) ...", the 3.41 splash screen, and the basic interface GUI for the program.

About two seconds after the interface GUI appears, a Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger window pops up, stating:
"
---------------------------
Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger
---------------------------
An unhandled win32 exception occurred in CentrexProxyTrial.exe [844]. Just-In-Time debugging this exception failed with the following error: No installed debugger has Just-In-Time debugging enabled. In Visual Studio, Just-In-Time debugging can be enabled from Tools/Options/Debugging/Just-In-Time.

Check the documentation index for 'Just-in-time debugging, errors' for more information.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
"

The number in brackets ([844]) changes every time the error is displayed.

I'm on XP Pro, SP2 Intel P4 2.8Ghz, 1GB ram.
I do have Microsoft VB and VC# 2005 express editions installed, but neither of them are running when the given error is displayed.   Any advice?

One thing I forgot to add was that clicking the OK button terminates the program and removes the tray icon.

Thanks again,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for your post.

That is weird. I’m running almost the exact same machine here as you and I have never seen a boot crash of the trial or non-trial Centrex Proxy Server. It would be good to isolate the cause because if its crashing, something’s up.

The JIT (Just in time debugger) capability is enabled on your system that is why the Visual Studio 2005 debugger is popping up. I have the same thing on my development machine here. Unfortunately it won’t help us much.

A few questions for you:

1)
We looked at the trial request logs here and see that you have Centrex Proxy Professional version trial. Is that correct?

2)
Did you ever have a previous version of this product installed on the PC that is experiencing the crash?

3)
Have you made changes to configuration setting for the proxy via the config (Ctrl + S) dialogs?

4)
If you have made config changes, please send us the exported registry settings or the configuration INI file. If you are not starting the SIP proxy with the –f command line switch, then all your config settings are in the registry located at:

HKLM\Software\LanScape\Centrex Proxy

Go into the registry editor and locate the above key. Right click on the Centrex Proxy key and select “Export” from the pop up menu. Export the key’s contents to a “Registration file) *.reg” file image. On Windows XP Pro, it should be the first file type selection in the “Save as Type” drop down list box.

If you can answer these questions, it will be a great help.

I just installed the Centrex proxy trial – Pro version on a machine here in the lab and its OK.

Repost as necessary and we will move on from here.

I think this can be traced to a nice big helping of PEBKAC.

I uninstalled/reinstalled a dozen times or so, and then I noticed a yellow icon in my taskbar.

After disconnecting my persistant sip softphone (xten client), the problem automagically disappeared! I can only assume that a conflict on seizing port 5060 caused the proxy to bail. Goofy error message to throw back, but at least it's not crashing anymore :)

Thanks,

Hi John,

Ahhhh... PEBKAC, been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.

Thanks for following up with this latest information. I think you have hit the nail on the head.

We will verify this today and fix the problem.

One other item: What XTEN soft phone and version are you using?

I'm not sure how to find the original software download anymore (xten is now counterpath, and the products have changed), but the UA Contact info displays "X-Lite release 1105x"

Hope this helps.
